I also recommend FlexJobs for finding more home data entry jobs. With that site, you can regularly search legitimate work at home jobs for data entry and other industries. Every job lead is guaranteed scam-free, and it's the only membership-based jobs site I currently use and trust. Their listings are updated 5-6 times per week, and they are plentiful. How to get the job: In addition to having the appropriate accreditation and state license to practice, it's important to highlight your ease with remote technology (e.g., FaceTime, Zoom and Skype) and any teleconferencing software. Being a clinician requires constant documentation and communication, so be sure to emphasize your abundant writing skills.
“Part-time work is a very appealing flexible work arrangement for all types of groups, not just millennials, but also working parents, semi-retirees, and others, and there are growing opportunities for part-time work,” said Sara Sutton Fell, founder and CEO of FlexJobs. “In fact, FlexJobs experienced a 31% increase in the number of remote part-time jobs posted in our database from 2014 to 2015, demonstrating this increased need from companies.”
Work-from-home writing jobs run the gamut from freelancing for consumer magazines to blogging to crowdsourcing editing jobs. Typically, work-from-home writers and editors work as freelancers. If you're already working for a company as a writer or editor, the first step may be to convince your boss to let you telecommute. Alternatively, you could always consider becoming a freelancer and look for home-based writing and editing jobs.
Toluna is a survey and product testing site where you can earn points for participation. Most surveys and questionnaires take 15 – 20 minutes and members earn anywhere from 15 – 20,000 points depending on the length. •The website has no contact information. A legitimate business has a way for you to reach them. Look for an "About" page that offers information on the company or CEO, along with a phone number, address, or contact email. (Try calling the number to see if anyone answers.) A website with only a contact form and no other way to get in touch with an actual human is suspicious.

I think when looking to work from home it is important to consider any skill sets you may have that you did not previously use for your career. For example, there are plenty of childcare opportunities that you can work toward qualifying for even if your previous career was something corporate, such as marketing or finance. You may just find something you love! You also could find something you never want to do again, in which case, at least you know:)
Many online job platforms such as Upwork.com also have their own system for recognizing and removing job scams. According to the site, many of them involve “employers” who try to pay workers outside the site’s payment system, and engage in some sort of check or money order fraud. For more tips on avoiding job scams on freelancing sites, read about it here.
What It Is: Think Mary Kay (cosmetics), Pampered Chef (kitchenware), or Rodan + Fields (skincare) — over time, you build a base of clients to whom you sell a company's wares. "There are several reasons why I decided to become a consultant," says Rodan + Fields independent consultant Debbie Royer. "I had seen how much of a blessing the business had been to a friend of mine and my sister-in-law. Plus, everything can be done from my phone, and being a mom to a preschooler and an infant I don't have a lot of extra time to be sitting at a computer."
In 2009, the United States Office of Personnel Management reported that approximately 103,000 federal employees were teleworking. However, fewer than 14,000 were teleworking three or more days per week.[18] In January 2012, Reuters, drawing from an Ipsos/Reuters poll, predicted that telecommuting was "a trend that has grown and one which looks like it will continue with 34% of connected workers saying they would be very likely to telecommute on a full-time basis if they could."[3] On December 9, 2010, the U.S. Federal Government passed the Telework Enhancement Act of 2010[19] in order to improve Continuity of Operations and ensure essential Federal functions are maintained during emergencies; to promote management effectiveness when telework is used to achieve reductions in organizational and transit costs and environmental impacts; and to enhance the work-life balance of workers. For example, telework allows employees to better manage their work and family obligations and thus helps retain a more resilient Federal workforce better able to meet agency goals.[20]
They give you 12 hours to transcribe one hour of audio not accounting for number of speakers, quality of audio, etc. This is all right if it is only an hour or so. However, if it is a three hour audio file you only have 36 hours to transcribe it. They don’t account for time to sleep or rest with the longer files. I did contact them about this and got no response.
CashCrate is an online platform where you can start earning money by completing offers, taking surveys, watching videos, and shopping online using their site. I’ve played around on the site a little bit, and you’ll want to make sure that you read all of the fine print on each and every offer. Many offers require an email address, which means you’ll receive offers from them and other marketers. Tasks pay out anywhere from a few cents to $30.00 or more, and you’ll receive $1 for signing up for an account. Payments are made via check or PayPal.

Have lots opinions on what works and what doesn't on the web? Then you might just be right for a "career" in remote usability testing. Actually, no one really makes a career at it, but user testers can pick up some extra work reviewing websites or mobile applications that may still be in development. You don't even necessarily have to be very knowledgeable about the Internet because some developers want the beginner's point of view.
What It Is: Create virtual displays of art and graphics by assembling images, typographies, and motion graphics for published, printed, or digital media. This may include drafting logos, packaging, labels, and advertisements for brands. Top candidates will have skills in creativity, typography, software, web design, Adobe Photoshop, technology, and more.
Job search site Glassdoor compiled a list of who some of these companies are, with top employers like Apple, Google and IBM making the cut. Recently, FlexJobs examined that list to see which companies are also in their database with open positions that allow employees to work from anywhere. (FlexJobs notes that while some of the available work-from-home positions at these companies do require a college degree, there are many open positions that don't.)
Social information processing suggests that individuals give meaning to job characteristics.[49] Individuals have the ability to construct their own perception of the environment by interpreting social cues.[50] This social information comes from overt statements from coworkers, cognitive evaluations of the job or task dimensions, and previous behaviors. This social context can affect individuals’ beliefs about the nature of the job, the expectations for individual behavior, and the potential consequences of behavior, especially in uncertain situations.[50] In telework, there are fewer social cues because social exchange and personalized communication takes longer to process in computer-mediated communication than face-to-face interactions.[51]

A 2007 study of National Science Foundation employees indicated that approximately one-third participated in telework regularly, characterized staff satisfaction with the program, and noted savings in employee time and greenhouse-gas emissions as a result of telework.[104][105] Rep. Sarbanes (D-MD) introduced the Telework Improvements Act of 2009 in March 2009. Co-sponsors of the bill included Reps. Connolly (D-VA), Wolf (R-VA), and Capito (R-WV). The bill requires each executive agency to establish a policy under which employees may be authorized to telework to the maximum extent possible without diminishing employee performance or agency operations. At the same time in the U.S. Senate, Sen. Akaka (D-HI) introduced the companion bill, along with Sens. Landrieu (D-LA) and Voinovich (R-OH).[106]

Remote jobs aren't the equivalent of freedom. "One massive misconception about remote work is that you have freedom to take care of your child or travel during the day," says Stella Garber, the head of marketing at Trello Atlassian (she also works remotely). "To be a remote worker, you ought to be available for calls and meetings during a predictable slot of hours."
It’s fairly easy to build your own website if you take advantage of the many free learning opportunities online. However, much of the population isn’t equipped to build their own site, or doesn’t have the time, which is why so many people make a living building websites and blogs for others. According to the BLS, around 16% of web developers were self-employed in 2016, with the vast majority able to work at home, or anywhere with a laptop and speedy Internet connection.

A meta-analysis of 46 studies of telecommuting involving 12,833 employees conducted by Ravi Gajendran and David A. Harrison in the Journal of Applied Psychology, published by the American Psychological Association (APA), found that telecommuting has largely positive consequences for employees and employers.[74][75] In their meta-analytic study, Gajendran and Harrison found that telecommuting had modest but beneficial effects on employees' job satisfaction, perceived autonomy, stress levels, manager-rated job performance, and (lower) work-family conflict. Telecommuting also reduces turnover intent, or the intention to quit one’s job. Increased job satisfaction, decreased turnover intent and role stress related to telecommuting partly because of a decrease in work-family conflict. Additionally, the increase in autonomy from teleworking in turn increases job satisfaction.[citation needed] Although a number of scholars and managers[76] had previously expressed fears that employee careers might suffer and workplace relationships might be damaged because of telecommuting, the meta-analysis found that there are no generally detrimental effects on the quality of workplace relationships and career outcomes. Telecommuting actually was found to positively affect employee-supervisor relations and the relationship between job satisfaction and turnover intent was in part due to supervisor relationship quality. Only high-intensity telecommuting (where employees work from home for more than 2.5 days a week) harmed employee relationships with co-workers, even though it did reduce work-family conflict.

For companies, telecommuting expands the talent pool, reduces the spread of illness, reduces costs including real-estate footprint, increases productivity, reduces their carbon footprint and energy usage, offers a means of complying with the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA) and possibly earning a tax credit, if they're American, reduces turnover and absenteeism, improves employee morale, enhances continuity-of-operations strategies, improves their ability to handle business across multiple time zones, and augments their cultural adaptability. Some estimates suggest that full-time telework can save companies approximately $20,000 per employee.[58]

The work: This is a risk management role that uses statistical models to assess the risk and cost that comes with potential events, such as death, accidents or property damage. Actuaries generally work in the insurance industry, and their responsibility is to predict how much money a company needs at present in order to pay for some financial loss in the future.

Moms with a creative flair (and experience) should check out the many image and photo editing positions available for part-time workers. Many companies seek part-time graphic designers and editors for ongoing and one-time jobs. If you are familiar with software such as Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop and have a trained eye, check out these great opportunities:

Consultant. If you have specialized knowledge and skills in your field — be it IT, management, media or something else — you can market your skills as a consultant. For example, if you’re a media professional who knows how to quickly create popular articles that get picked up by other websites, you could sell your skills as a media consultant to news organizations. While the average salary for a consultant is roughly $90,000, many earn far more than that -- especially those with skills in in-demand fields like technology."Consultants should have superior people skills, communication skills, and problem solving skills, as well as being highly analytical, too," says Larson.
This is another area where large, often tech-focused, companies are consistently looking to hire remote workers. Like with customer service agents, tech support specialists are focused on answering customer questions and solving their problems. However, tech support is more specialized, so it does require a little knowledge about working with the product.
How to Get It: Customer service is the biggest work-at-home field, with companies including Spiegel, Hilton, Best Western, HSN, 1-800-FLOWERS and many others using at-home reps. Fill out an application with staffing companies such as Arise, Alpine Access, VIPdesk, LiveOps, and Convergys, all of which vet the companies who are hiring through them. If you need benefits, search through a staffing company that will hire you as an employee (Alpine Access, VIPdesk and Convergys do this) rather than an independent contractor. If you're a contractor, you may be asked to pay a small fee (between $15 and $35) for a background check. While a fee can be a sign of a scam, independent contractors are responsible for their own expenses.
This is pretty much the same position as an in-house recruiter except you get to work wherever you want. The other major difference is that you search the web to find the right employee for the right position. You’re also responsible for screening the applicant and being a part of the interviewing and negotiation process. Some recruiters are paid upward of $125 an hour for building resume templates.

Study results from the 2013 Regus Global Economic Indicator were published in September 2013 and showed that 48% of business managers worldwide work remotely for at least half their working week. The study engaged over 26,000 business managers across 90 countries, with 55% of respondents stating that the effective management of remote workers is an attainable goal. Following the release of the results, Regus CEO Mark Dixon stated: "The business people we speak with tell us that trust and freedom play a key role in remote management, and once these are in place the benefits are clear for all to see: greater productivity, improved staff retention and lower operating costs."[21] A living list of fully distributed companies can be found here. Forrester Research’s US Telecommuting Forecast reporting that 34 million Americans work from home and the number is expected to reach a staggering 63 million – or 43% of the U.S. workforce – by 2016. Cisco reports that the company has generated an estimated annual savings of $277 million in productivity by allowing employees to telecommute and telework. And Intuit reports that by 2020, more than 40% of the American workforce, or 60 million people, will be freelancers, contractors and temp workers. In the UK between 2007 and 2012, the number of employees who usually work from home increased by 13% - an increase of almost half a million people, taking the total to over 4 million employees out of a UK workforce of 30 million.[22]

When you think of work-from-home jobs, do you think of low-paying gigs? If so, it might be time to adjust your perspective. While there are plenty of entry-level, non-professional roles for people who want to work from home, those aren’t the only game in town. Professionals can find telecommuting jobs that satisfy their desire to keep moving forward in their career and get paid appropriately for their experience and skills.
"At Humana, our commitment to health and well-being begins in the workplace," said Douglas Edwards, Vice President of Workplace Solutions at Humana . "As a company, we’re continuing to support more flexible work arrangements—from flex time to remote accommodations— so that our associates are empowered to work in an environment where they can be their best self. Not only is this a way to retain and attract best-in-class talent, it’s also essential to drive our business strategy forward."

Some of the available jobs are technology-focused positions like web designers or software engineers, but this is not always the case. Others are non-tech roles like jobs in customer service or freelance writing and editing. The leading companies looking to hire part-time telecommuting workers are in the education, IT, sales, and health industries:
Furthermore you could use a course platform to create and teach online courses on any topic you choose — this is becoming super popular and is something we ourselves do (we have an online course we teach on social media marketing). Either way — most people typically need a platform to accomplish either of these and a blog is typically the easiest way to accomplish that (although that in and of itself can take months to years to really gain traction). We have a blog setup tutorial if you’re interested (just let me know and I’ll get you some good resources).
