They give you 12 hours to transcribe one hour of audio not accounting for number of speakers, quality of audio, etc. This is all right if it is only an hour or so. However, if it is a three hour audio file you only have 36 hours to transcribe it. They don’t account for time to sleep or rest with the longer files. I did contact them about this and got no response.

Proofreading is another great part-time opportunity. With the amount of online content out there, good proofreaders are in high demand. Proofreading differs from editing, in that proofreaders are simply checking for errors and editors are examining content and structure as well. If you have a good eye for mistakes and grammatical errors, you can earn good money from home proofreading.
When I began looking for work-at-home jobs, I had no clue what I wanted to do, I just knew that I needed something part-time and flexible. My plan was to work in the afternoons when my daughter was napping, which gave me two-three hours of uninterrupted work time. Luckily, through my networking efforts, I was able to land a freelance marketing gig that allowed me to work a few hours each day while my daughter snoozed in the afternoons.
Among the many companies with legitimate work-from-home jobs is Appen. Appen is a technology services company working across a variety of industries to improve its products with high-quality data. It helps clients improve products, including advanced search engines, social media platforms, ecommerce sites, and more. Headquartered in Chatswood, New South Wales, Australia, Appen supports nearly a million contractors working worldwide.
I’m in a difficult position because I’m currently unable to walk or stand for more than a few minutes at a time (or even less) due to a weird issue with flat feet and also I have carpel tunnel in my wrists. Which means an at home job where I can sit is absolutely necessary, but the amount of typing I can do at one time is also limited. There might be work-arounds to the wrist-stuff with speech to text programs and the like, but the sitting thing is non-negotiable. I am trying to solve my problems related to disability, but in the meantime if I can find some source of income, that would be wonderful.
On their own websites, bloggers make money by selling their own products or advertising others. Advertising revenue is generated through advertisements, sponsorships, or affiliate marketing. In addition to their own blogs, many bloggers look for online writing jobs. Freelance writing provides a steadier stream of income than blogging, and it is easier to start making money quickly – making it a great way to supplement your income as you grow your own blog.
Managers may view the teleworker as experiencing a drop in productivity during the first few months. This drop occurs as "the employee, his peers, and the manager adjust to the new work regimen".[89] The drop could also be due to inadequate office setup. Additionally, a 1999 study claimed that "70 minutes of each day in a regular office are wasted by interruptions, yakking around the photocopier, and other distractions".[90] Over the long term, though, surveys found that productivity of the teleworker will climb; over two-thirds of employers report increased productivity among telecommuters, according to a 2008 survey.[91] Traditional line managers are accustomed to managing by observation and not necessarily by results. This causes a serious obstacle in organizations attempting to adopt telecommuting. Liability and workers' compensation can become serious issues as well.[92] Weaker relationships between job dimensions and job outcomes, such as job performance and absenteeism,[33] may explain why the results regarding performance and telework are conflicting. Some studies have found that telework increases productivity in workers[93] and leads to higher supervisor ratings of performance and higher performance appraisals.[35] However, another study found that professional isolation in teleworkers led to a decrease in job performance, especially for those who spent more time teleworking and engaged in fewer face-to-face interactions.[48] Thus, similar to job attitudes, the amount of time spent teleworking may also influence the relationship between telework and job performance.
Nowadays, people are going online to find experts at things they themselves may be struglging with. A growing trend is hiring an expert versus hiring a large company to come in and help fix problems. One resource is Catalant, which hires out experts from $15 an hour to $280 an hour. That's one option if you're looking to help others with your knowledge.
Pretty much every serious blogger and online entrepreneur I know has at least one virtual assistant. Think of a VA like an administrative assistant at a regular office building, except they are working remotely. Duties can include practically any administrative task you can think of – including handling emails, bookkeeping, completing sales, customer service, editing websites, and much more. Specializations in areas like social media management or online ad management is another option.
According to the job characteristic theory, the relationship between characteristics of the job and job satisfaction was moderately strong.[65] Of the five task characteristics, autonomy has a strong relationship with job satisfaction such that greater autonomy leads to greater job satisfaction.[65] Teleworkers may have increased satisfaction due to the flexibility and autonomy their jobs provide. Teleworkers were found to have higher satisfaction than office based workers.[66][46] It was found that autonomy increased teleworkers' satisfaction by reducing work-family conflicts,[38][67] especially when workers were allowed to work outside traditional work hours and be more flexible for family purposes.[39] Additionally, autonomy explained an increase in employee engagement when the amount of time spent teleworking increased.[34] Furthermore, a study from FlexJobs that surveyed over 3000 people found that 81 percent of respondents also said they would be more loyal to their employers if they had flexible work options.[68]

Hi Lashay, I just found your website and am totally amazed by how professional your posts are. I was wondering however, if you could give some advice to a Hungarian, who would love to work from home but has to realize that most of the websites only offer jobs for US citizens. I would be so glad if you could help me with your opinion! Thank you in advance!
How to Get It: You can apply directly through companies, such as Stella & Dot, a jewelry company that had over $100 million in sales in 2010, who is always in need of stylists. A few others include Avon (household and personal care), The Cocoa Exchange (chocolates and more), and Alice's Table (flowers). You can also visit the Direct Selling Association website — all the companies listed there agree to abide by a code of ethics, so they only offer legitimate opportunities. Typically reps make a small investment to get started (this is a legitimate and standard practice), and sometimes pay a fee for the merchandise being sold. After that you can work as much or as little as you want, and see profit based on how much you sell.
I often get asked, “What’s the difference between freelancing and contracting?” The short answer is this: As a freelancer you’re in charge of finding your own clients, finishing work, and getting your clients to pay. When you contract, the company you contract with finds clients and handles payments, you just claim available work and submit it on time.

TravelZoo is looking for a freelance copy editor for a long-term position. You must be able to work 10 to 15 hours per week. Additionally, you must be able to pass a copy-editing test.
A word of caution: Remember that where very little is required, very little is offered. These jobs don’t pay much, and they are not going to provide a reference for your resume. It may take working at several different of these online jobs to pull in the income you want. And as always, know the signs of a work-at-home scam as you sort through the opportunities.

Of the more than three million web entries resulting from a search on the phrase "work at home", more than 95% of the results were scams, links to scams, or other dead ends. Work at home scams earn their perpetrators more than $500 million per year, and home business scams account for another $250 million per year. Even the sites that claim to be scam-free often feature ads that link to scams.[98] According to Christine Durst, CEO of Staffcentrix, there is a 48-to-1 ratio of scams to legitimate offerings among work-at-home job leads on the Internet.[99]

If you have prior administrative experience or you simply enjoy basic office tasks like typing, correspondence, and scheduling, a virtual assistant (VA) job may be the perfect fit for you. Not only are VAs are in demand, but their hours are (often) flexible, and most tasks you can complete on a flexible timeline. You can learn more about virtual assistant roles here.

The study engaged over 26,000 business managers across 90 countries, with 55% of respondents stating that the effective management of remote workers is an attainable goal. Following the release of the results, Regus CEO Mark Dixon stated: "The business people we speak with tell us that trust and freedom play a key role in remote management, and once these are in place the benefits are clear for all to see: greater productivity, improved staff retention and lower operating costs."[21] A living list of fully distributed companies can be found here. The 2012 Status Telework in the Federal Government features teleworking highlights from the past 18 months as well as goals for improving teleworking in the future. Reports finding that all 87 agencies participating in the Data Cell had established telework policies and 73 percent of the policies met the Telework Act Requirements. More than 684,000 federal employees were deemed eligible to telework, this represents approximately 32 percent of all federal employees. More than 144,000 federal employees had written teleworking agreements with their agencies. 27 percent of teleworkers worked remotely three or more days per week.[111] In addition to the findings, the reports examine teleworking at the Department of Defense. According to the report, there are more than 793,000 employees in the DoD and of those employees, 134,477 were deemed eligible for teleworking. Overall, the federal government seems to have embraced teleworking and is attempting to create more remote working opportunities for employees. In closing, the report listed several ways that the government could make more jobs available through telework. Suggestions include using telework as a tool to retain employees at or near retirement age and using telework to expand hiring of highly trained disabled veterans.[111]
I am available to work at least 15 hours a week doing typing reports or whatever fits my abilities. In the past I have done many assorted jobs and spent 15 years in the Interior design field. I have worked outside in offices many years and am good on the telephone and keyboard on my tablet and if need be can get a computer if necessary. My experience in the working field covers an assortment of jobs. I am a retired senior lady.

I am needing a work-from-home job. I have skills in many areas including transcribing, creative arts and design, etc. I am a Certified Health Coach, but I don’t know how to launch my business. I have been a stay-at-home-mom for so long that my work skills are old. Please tell me how I can get started, I really don’t know where to begin. I am now a single mom and I have to make money!
When I started to work from home, I missed talking to people. A lot. But I soon found a friend. Every day, I would hear the UPS guy gunning his motor as he drove down my long driveway to deliver my packages. As soon as I would spot him, I’d fly out of the house and chat him up. And now he leaves the packages by the curb. Sure, the one big bonus of working from home is that it gets you away from the petty office politics and never-ending gossip.
Online tutoring is another part-time job you can do completely by working from home. Online tutoring is a new way for a student to receive help, either scheduled or on-demand. Sessions are done online through Skype video or application where a student and tutor can connect face-to-face. Here are some companies that offer part-time work at home jobs in the educational field:

Work-at-home and telecommuting scams are very common; many of these job offers are scams claiming that people can "get rich quick" while working from home. In fact, these scams require an investment up front with no pay-off at the end.[96] The problem is so pervasive that in 2006 the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) established 'Project False Hopes', a Federal and state law enforcement sweep that targeted bogus business opportunity and work-at-home scams. The crackdown involved more than 100 law enforcement actions by the FTC, the Department of Justice, the United States Postal Inspection Service, and law enforcement agencies in 11 states. In four of the new FTC cases alone, consumers lost more than $30 million.[citation needed] "Bogus business opportunities trample on Americans’ dreams of financial independence", said FTC Chairman Deborah Platt Majoras. "If a business opportunity promises no risk, little effort, and big profits, it almost certainly is a scam. These scams offer only a money pit, where no matter how much time and money is invested, consumers never achieve the riches or financial freedom that they were promised."[97] The FBI warned of such scams on February 2009, as well.
To avoid any confusion, I want to make it clear first that virtual assistant work is not always non-phone, but it can be. Virtual assistants tend to do a little bit of everything, just depending on their skills/expertise. So if you are good at various non-phone tasks (social media marketing/moderation, writing, graphic design, research etc.), then you may be able to do work for some of the companies below putting those non-phone skills to work.
